Case Study
You could definitely say that this property in East Linton got some much needed T.L.C.. After surveying the first-floor stonework on this property it was immediately apparent that there hadn’t been any maintenance carried out at all over the years. The mullion stones on both windows were only just holding on. This could have been a bad accident. The
weathering was so severe that only one small tap with the hammer and the whole thing came loose. These were replaced with new Witten fell sandstone mullions.
Most of the jamb stones on both windows were also in a bad state with large cracks throughout. Some of these were requiring full replacement and some were able to be part replaced/repaired.
Five of the jamb stones had to be fully replaced, four had partial replacements (indent repairs) and the rest were able to be repaired on the ingo’s. These jamb stones had a checked mould on them with a stugged finish on the face. This was all carried out and dressed in our workshop prior to work commencing on site.
