Case study

Bayswell Hotel, Dunbar

Entrance pillars and a dwarf wall rebuilt in polished Corsehill sandstone after being knocked down by a delivery vehicle.

01

The brief

The Bayswell Hotel contacted us after their entrance pillars were knocked over by a delivery company. As the pillar fell, the railings attached to it and the dwarf wall pulled down most of the dwarf wall too.

Our work

We supplied new sandstone for the job: 20 polished pillar stones, splayed and polished base stones, moulded pier caps and around 11.5 metres of half-round polished copes, all dressed in our workshop from Corsehill sandstone.

We installed new foundations and rebuilt the pillars and dwarf wall. In the process, we slightly widened the entrance by moving the left-hand pillar around 600mm to the left – hopefully so it won’t be knocked down again.

The result

We loved carrying out this job from start to finish and are extremely proud of the result.
